Directions From Knoxville:
Coming from I-40 (East or Westbound) take Hwy. 129 South exit to Alcoa. Travel
past McGhee Tyson (Knoxville) airport and continue on Hwy 129 Bypass (road
divides; go to the right and follow signs for Atlanta). Stay on Hwy. 129 into
Maryville past Foothills Mall area onto overpass. Stay on Hwy. 129/411 ByPass
and continue South until Hwy. 129 South splits from Hwy. 411 South. Turn
left and follow Hwy. 129 South (signs for Fontana, NC). Follow Hwy. 129 South
until it crosses Hwy. 336. Turn left onto Hwy. 336 (Allegheny Springs historical
marker is on the corner). Continue on Hwy. 336 for approximately 1.5 miles. You
will pass Nelson's Chapel on left and .6 miles past Nelson's chapel, turn right
onto Allegheny Loop Road (look for phone switching station). Travel .5 mile,
turn left onto Gribble Road (look for dead-end sign and small white ASRC sign).
Travel 1 mile to end of road and ASRC.
If you get lost, just ask the old-timers where the old
Hightower Farm
or McArthur Farm is located.
Directions from Nashville:
Take I-40 East to the Lenoir City (Ext. 321) toward the Smoky Mountains. Cross
the Fort Loudon dam and travel to Maryville (by Foothills Mall area). Turn
right on Hwy. 129/411 By-Pass and continue on Hwy. 129/411 South until Hwy. 129
South splits from Hwy. 411. Turn left and follow Hwy. 129 South (signs for
Fontana, NC). Follow Hwy. 129 South until it crosses Hwy. 336. Turn left onto
Hwy. 336 (Allegheny Springs historical marker is on the corner). Continue on
Hwy. 336 for approximately 1.5 miles. You will pass Nelson's Chapel on left and
