In addition to the tabloid section published in The Daily Times, which included 14 pages of the origin of community names, eight pages of history, an added section in the bound "Volume III, Snapshots of Blount County History" includes the following:

The eight-page section is of recollections of growing up in Blount County in the 1930s. In addition to the Looking...Back section, the bound volume will include a preface by former U.S. Senator Howard Baker Jr., the introduction and an additional 14 pages of local history which relate:

When Blount County was without telephone service for 24 days in 1955.
Filming of the movie "Fool Killer" at Louisville.
Photographs of Broadway in the 1930s, the Maryville Victory Ship in WWII, Twin Cities' mayors signing a 1950s proclamation, and a Blount Chamber visit to the legislature.
The often confused Pride Mansion and Holston College structures.
"Remember When" photographs of a 1959 Fat Calf Show winners, Blount County Rescue Squad training Scouts, a well-hidden moonshine still, a load of piggies going to market, and a 1950s view of the Maryville Little League Field from the top of the courthouse.
Little River often becomes very big when it floods. Combined with planned improvements, a flood left Little River Gorge Road from Townsend to Gatlinburg in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park  closed for almost two years, 1972-74.
A view of how a 1934 plank foot bridge across Pistol Creek became a Cusick Street extension from Church Avenue to the courthouse.
A tribute to the late Anna Coltharp Irwin who had a vital roll in the first two volumes.

We have a few copies of Volume I and Volume II. You can order any or all three by mail at $35.00 each. Volume III orders will be filled as soon as the books arrive from the printer in early December, in plenty of time for Christmas gifts.
