is located just as you enter Townsend from Maryville on the left hand side of the road.

Much of the Smokies can be enjoyed from your vehicle and from accessible facilities and programs. Activities range from viewing scenery to exploring the intricacies of the forest floor to learning about the resourceful people who made a living from this wilderness. The "Special People's Park" is located just as you enter Townsend from Maryville on the left hand side of the road. This park is indeed special. It offers a chance for those persons confined to a wheelchair or those who may

have walking difficulties a ramp leading down to the water. There are picnic tables and outdoor grills for those who want to picnic or sit and enjoy the Little River passing by.


The Smoky Mountain Convention Visitors Bureau promotes tourism and travel in Blount County, Tennessee catering to both the leisure tourism and business travel markets. The Visitors Bureau operates the Maryville Welcome Center and the Townsend Visitors Center. This facility is equipped with ramps in the back for wheelchairs and scooters.
