Have you ever wanted to
listen to some bluegrass or old time gospel music where there are down
to earth folks playing for the pure love and enjoyment of it?
Every Friday night in this old school building which is now a community
center may be the place for you. I have never seen so many fiddles, banjos, guitars and the like under
one roof at one time. Music and musicians alike flow from one room to
the next and there is music even being |
| made in the hallways. For people
who enjoy the grassroots music of a time out of the past you will find
it here. Young and old, all come to play and to listen. |
|
|
There is no admission
fee but you may make a donation at the door. The money is not
for the musicians but for the upkeep and maintenance of the
premises.
But be warned, if you are looking for sparkle and tinsel, sequin's
and strobe lights you should not come to this place (you'll need
to go to Dollywood for that). At Rocky Branch you're going to
see overalls and John Deere caps. It's a great way to spend an
evening of music from the roots of the mountains. |
