Richy Kreme Éclairs in Japan

Mrs. Euna Joines, 87 Belmont Ave., Maryville, recently delivered a special Christmas present to her grandson, Ricky Joines, a student in Japan. Ricky, formally of Maryville and now living in Nashville is a junior at Kansai Gaidai, the University of Foreign Studies, in Osaka, Japan this year. He is a participant in a student exchange program between his college, Western Kentucky and Kansai Gaidai.
Ricky developed his taste for éclairs as a small child living in Maryville but moved to Nashville when he was six. For years the first stop on each trip back to Maryville to visit relatives was at Richy Kreme's for éclairs.
His longstanding love for Richy Kreme éclairs was well known so when his parents, Bob and Ann Joines, and Mrs. Joines scheduled a Christmas visit to Japan the first present they thought of was éclairs.
The employees at Richy Kreme specially wrapped the box for the trip and the éclairs were delivered in excellent shape. After months of only Japanese food, Ricky thought they were the best he had ever eaten.
Christy Self, another Maryville resident and a student at Maryville College is a classmate of Ricky's at Kansai Gaidai.
