The moral to this story is that it is all too true.
Jesus did not come into this world so that we could
have a birthday party at His expense, and use His
Holy Name. We are to give
daily of our increase to those in need, we are to
daily show his love in us to others… not for a few days out
of the year as we see happening in 3 or 4 weeks
leading up to christmas. We are to daily celebrate His life
after the cross not His birth, yet we must always be
thankful he was born in that manger, that day, a
long, long time ago. What Would Jesus Do? He
would have nothing to do with the yearly birthday
parties we throw using His Name in order to gain
mere possessions, self recognition, and to
feel good about ourselves. It puts the cross of
Christ to shame. |
